Trevor Lawn
Founder, Better Fitness PT
I started Kung Fu at the age of 14 and instantly became hooked by the fitness and competitive side of the martial art. By the time I was 16, I was competing in full contact kickboxing competitions. At 18 years old I became Blackbelt instructor. By maintaining my fitness and competing I saw a natural progression into a career in the fitness industry. When I moved to Scotland at the age of 23, my career developed further, with the addition of fitness to music classes and becoming a spin instructor. I started teaching at local gyms, also becoming one of the first Khai Bo instructors in Scotland.
I discovered Thaiboxing and at the age of 25, I went to Thailand to learn the discipline. Upon my return I competed in my first Fight and went on to coach others, establishing my own Thaiboxing Club in 2002, ByDandMauyThai. In 2010 I became a fulltime Gym Manager and Personal Trainer. Furthering my knowledge in level 3 personal trainer, TRX, Kettlebells, Olympic lifting, nutrition, callisthenics (bodyweight gymnastics and strength training) along with mobility, flexibility and GP referral rehabilitation qualifications.
I now have 30 years plus of experience and teaching in the fitness industry. I intend to share this knowledge and provide clients with guidance in a more personal manner by starting Better Fitness PT.
